Photos: Jackie Collins’ Lavish Beverly Hills Mansion Up For Sale
The Beverly Hills mansion owned by the late Jackie Collins, who died of breast cancer in September at age 77, is up for sale for a cool $30 million.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Collins’ home, completed in 1992, is predictably lavish (and deliciously late-80s/ early-90s in style):
The eight-bedroom modern house measures about 20,000 square feet, with terraces overlooking the grounds and the Hollywood Hills. A roughly 100-foot-long art gallery connects the main house to a guest house, which contains offices, a gym and sauna, and a screening room. Outside, the roughly 1-acre property includes a motor court and a swimming pool with a cabana.
Not too shabby. But would you expect anything else from the glamorous, sexy romance novelist?
In a 2014 interview with the Wall Street Journal, Collins detailed her demands for the construction of the home, and said that the design of the house was inspired by the David Hockney painting, “A Bigger Splash“, which she saw with her husband Oscar Lerman at a gallery in London in 1989.
I couldn’t take my eyes off the pool and fell in love with the clean lines, suspended splash and overall tranquillity. Within days, I was sketching a design for a new home that wrapped around a pool based on the one in the painting.
We would love to take a dip in that pool, especially during a heat wave like we’ve got going on today. Ugh.
Speaking of pools, here are a few old-school photos of a young Jackie Collins from the late 1960s, before she made a name for herself as a romance novelist.
